IBPS RRB Assistant Recruitment Exam 2014 Question Paper Analysis – 21 September 2014

Hi banking aspirants. Here I have something special for you. One of our readers has taken the test of IBPS RRB - Assistant Recruitment today and has sent a compilation of questions asked in various sections of the question paper. He has done a detailed analysis of questions asked from different topics in the IBPS RRB Assistant recruitment examination held on 21st September 2014 in the morning shift. IBPS RRB Assistant Recruitment 2014 Question Paper on 21-09-2014 (Morning Shift)
Test of Reasoning:
1.       5 questions based on letter and symbol arrangement. One series of letters, numbers and symbols were given and there were 5 questions based on it. (I am unable to remember the exact arrangement, but following is an example. The example is only for your reference. These questions were not asked in the examination in exactly same manner, but are similar)
Example:
Study the following arrangement carefully and answer the questions given below –

(1)    Four of the following five are alike in a certain way based on their positions in the above arrangement and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to that group?

(2)    How many such numbers are there in the above arrangement, each of which is immediately preceded by a letter but not immediately followed by a letter?

(3)    Which of the following is the seventh to the left of the twentieth from the left end of the above arrangement?

2.       One question based on coding- decoding (Example: If in a certain code PAUSE is written as OBVTD and SHIFT is written as RIJS. How will THINK be written in the same code? (1) UGHML  (2) SIJOJ   (3) SILOJ   (4) SIJQJ   (5) SIJOL)
3.       One question based on Alphabet test (Example: How many such pairs of letters are there in the word ‘SUBSTANCE’ each of which has as many letters between them in the word (both forward and backward directions) as in the English alphabet? (1) None  (2) one   (3) Two   (4) Three   (5) More than Three).
4.       One question based on Dictionary based test (Example: If only one meaningful word starting with F can be formed with the third, fourth, sixth and ninth letter of the word ABCDEFGHIJK; what will be second letter from the right end of the new word? If no such word can be formed, mark your answer as X and if more than one such word can be formed, mark your answer as Y….)
5.       Two questions based on Sitting Arrangement. One Linear Arrangement consisting of five questions (This is a reference: Seven friends A, B, C, D, E, F and G are standing in a row facing North, not necessarily in the same order. Only three people stand in between G and C. G is second from the right end. B is third to the right of ……….. E is not standing at any of the extreme ends. Answer the following questions – Who is sitting where J …..).
Another set on Circular Arrangement consisting of five questions (Eight people A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting around a circular table facing to the center. D is sitting third to the left of B. A and F are immediate neighbors of B……… Now answer who is sitting where J )
6.       Some questions based on Data Sufficiency.
7.       Five questions based on Inequality.
8.       Some questions on Syllogism.
9.       Five questions of following kind (I do not know what this type of questions are called. Note: This is not the exact question asked in the examination, but a reference).
The following questions are based on the following five three digit numbers given below:
612         589         743         468         297
(A) If two is added to the first digit of each of the number, how many numbers thus formed will be completely divisible by three?
(1) None              (2) One                 (3) Two                 (4) Three             (5) Four
(B) If all the digits in each of the numbers are arranged in descending order within the number, which of the following will form the highest number in the new arrangement?
(1) 612                  (2) 589                  (3) 743                  (4) 468                  (5) 297    

Test of Numerical Ability:

1.       Almost 15 questions were asked only based on BODMAS rule and simplification. Simple calculations, but you can commit error if you do not know the application of BODMAS rule well. There was a question of only addition of three large numbers (A+B+C=? type, I do not remember the exact numbers).
2.       Two questions from Area and Perimeter.
3.       One problem from
4.       Five questions from number series.  These questions were easy, took only a few seconds to solve two/three of them. But I could not solve one.
5.       Some problems from Partnership, Ratio and Proportion, Profit and Loss, Fraction and Problem based on numbers.
6.       One problem on Average speed (e.g. Santa covered 45 km distance at a speed of 2km/h and next 30 km at a speed of 3km/h. What is his average speed?)
7.       Problem from Time and Work (e.g. If A can finish a work in x days and B can finish the same job in y days in how many days both together can complete the work?)
8.       One problem based on Ages.
9.       Data Interpretation: A set of five questions based on a Data Table. DI questions were extremely easy to solve.

Test of English Language:

1.       Five questions on spotting errors in a sentence
2.       Five questions spotting errors in spelling or incorrect use of word.
3.       A long passage following 10 questions.
4.       Five questions based on Arrangement of Six Sentences. You have to arrange the sentences in correct order and answer its following questions.
5.       Five fill in the blanks with appropriate words in a passage.

Test of General Awareness:

My General Awareness section went not so good. However, the questions in this section were also of moderate difficulty level. If you have a habit of constant reading of daily newspapers, periodicals and any monthly competitive magazine, you can easily conquer this section too. Some of the questions asked in General Awareness section are:

3.       Who is Sumitra Mahajan – (Speaker of Lok Sabha)
4.       Which sport Heena Sindhu is a player of – (Shooting)

6.       Pankaj Adwani is related to which sport? – (Ans. Billiard)
7.       Amit Kumar won medal in Glasgow 2014 in which sport? (Wrestling)
8.       How many new passanger trains are introduced in Railway Budget 2014?
9.       Sheikh Hasina is the Prime Minister of – Bangladesh
10.   Suzlon energy related to- Wind Turbine
11.   What is the amount of tax exemption for senior citizens in Union Budget 2014?
12.   How many new AIIMS has been announced in union budget 2014?
13.   MPLAD stands for? (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme)
14.   What is the new minimum pension amount by EPFO?

Test of Computer Awareness:

In computer awareness section, they asked very ‘pappu’ questions. I think all questions were answered by most of the candidates. Also notable is that, each question in this section consist of only 0.5 marks with a total of 20 Marks in 40 questions. It took me comparatively less time in solving this section, so do not properly remember the options and even questions. A few of the questions that were asked in this section:  
1.       Which of the following is an output device? (options like keyboard, plotter, monitor etc.; Answer is Monitor).
2. Which of the following is not an input device?  (do not remember the options)
3. Which keyboard key will return Start menu? (Ans. Windows key)
4. A question on Clipboard(forgot exact question)
5.       What type of software is used to achieve specific task? (Ans. Utility)
6.       Which keyboard key will take you to the beginning of the current line? (Ans. Home key)
7.       Tab key is used to (scroll and indent)
8.       Which one of the following is not an Operating System?
(1)    Linut              (2) Windows Home Basic              (3) Windows XP                                (4) Linux               (5) Unix

9.       Which manages computer resources- Operating System
10.   Server provides information to computers connected to – Network
11.   What is the largest unit of Data in the following?

IBPS CWE for PO/MT – IV 2014 Topic-wise Syllabus, StudyPlan, Study Materials and Recommended Books
