RBI Assistant Exam 2014 Question Paper and Analysis

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted the recruitment exam for 506 posts of Assistants on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th September 2014. The examination was held in different venues across the country for recruitment of Assistants to be posted in the banks various branches. recruitment exams for banking personnel are conducted in online mode, hence it is difficult to get the complete question paper asked in the recruitment test. But in the following section, I will be providing valuable information about the questions asked in the RBI Assistant Exam 2014 that will help you get a rough idea about what type of questions are asked in RBI Assistant recruitment Examination and will help your preparation for the exam in future.
Test of Reasoning:
Test of Reasoning section was moderate level. The following points can help understand the nature of questions asked in the Reasoning section of RBI Assistant Exam 2014.
·         An arrangement puzzle to solve (it was like – There are discussions to be held on seven rivers Ganges, Jamuna, Brahmaputra, Godavari, Tapti, Kaveri and X. The discussions will start on Wednesday and will end on Tuesday, one on each day. Brahmaputra will be on Thursday. There is an only discussion between Ganges and Kaveri. Godavari is discussed immediately after Jamuna blah blah blah……. The description followed by five questions. )
·         A problem on Sitting Arrangement. The problem was on circular arrangement and followed by five MCQs.
·         A problem based on Direction Sense which was followed by two MCQs.
·         Five problem of Syllogysm. Only two statements Syllogism were asked.
·         Four problems on Inequality. The inequality questions were of Direct inequality and no question from Indirect inequality.
·         One question of following type:

·         Question of Coding-Decoding.
·         Alphabet Test
·         5 questions of Data Sufficiency (Blood Relationship, Logical Arrangement etc.)
·         A set of questions of following kind:
 The following questions are based on the following five three digit numbers given below:

(A) If two is added to the first digit of each of the number, how many numbers thus formed will be completely divisible by three?

(B) If all the digits in each of the numbers are arranged in descending order within the number, which of the following will form the highest number in the new arrangement?

Test of English Language:
Questions asked in RBI Assistant Exam 2014 English language section can also be considered to be moderate difficulty level. An analysis of questions asked in this section can be given as follows:
1.       A long passage following 10 questions. These questions include – Synonym (or most nearly the same meaning) of two words used in the passage, Antonym (or most nearly the opposite in meaning) of two words from the passage and a question about what may be the suitable title for the passage.
2.       Replacing a word or phrase with most suitable word given in the options.
3.       Five questions spotting errors in spelling or incorrect use of word.
4.       Five questions based on Arrangement of Six Sentences marked as A to F. You have to arrange the sentences in correct order and answer its following questions.
5.       Five fill in the blanks with appropriate words in a passage.
Test of Numerical Ability:
Questions in this section were comparatively high level. They asked a lot of questions on Simplification, BODMAS rule and calculation. If you give effort, you can solve these problems, but if you are not familiar with quick tricks or shortcuts, it will take a hell lot of time to solve these questions. I am not able to remember all the exact questions, but I can give you a rough idea about type of questions asked in this section. An analysis of the questions asked in Numerical Ability section of RBI Assistant Exam 2014 can be given as follows:
1.       12/15 questions of Simplification and calculation (High Level).
2.       5 questions of Number series (These questions were easily solvable).
3.       One question of Boats and Stream.
4.       Question from Area and Perimeter (If sides of a square are increased by 10%, by what percent its area will increase?)
5.       Question form Mixture and Allegation (Rice of two different prices X and Y are mixed in certain ration blah blaah)
6.       Question from Time and work.
7.       Question on Profit/Loss
8.       Question on Partnership(A invested 12,500 in a business. After 4 months, B invested 8800. After two more months, C invested some amount. C’s contribution is twice as much as B. If the profit in that year is <xyz>, find B’s share.)
9.       Problem on Ages
10.   Problem on Simple Interest and Compound Interest
11.   No question on Data Interpretation.
Test of General Awareness:
Test of General Knowledge section of RBI Assistant Exam 2014 was somewhat easy to moderate level. Questions from current affairs of last two/three months were asked mostly. There were questions on RBI related policies and rates etc. like current CRR. Following are some of the questions asked in this section.
1.       Who has been appointed as fourth deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India? – S S Mundra
2.       What is the Current CRR? – 4%
3.       New anti-submarine corvette commissioned to Indian Navy? – INS Kamorta
4.       Prime Minister of Britain? – David Cameron
5.       Tata and Singapore Airlines new joint venture name? – Vistara
6.       Govt. of India started which e-governance scheme recently? – Digital India.
7.       Smart card issued by Indian Railway? – Go India
8.       ‘Pinch’ word is related to which sport?
9.       One question on PM’s Japan visit.
10.   RBI got approval from Govt. of India to create which post in the rank of Deputy Governor? – Chief Operating Officer (COO)
11.   The eminent Jnanpeeth Award winner passed away recently? – Dr. U. R. Ananthamurthy
Test of Computer Awareness:
Questions in this section were comparatively tougher a bit than the questions asked in other banking recruitment exams of Assistant grade. But not to be get scared. If one has basic grasp of computer operations and applications, she can easily master this section. Some of the questions asked in this section were:
1.       Which one is not a computer hardware?(five options given, four are hardware, on is software).
2.       Which one is not an Operating System?(Options were Windows 7, Windows XP, Linux Unix and something I don’t even bother to remember J)
3.       HTTPS stands for? Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure
4.       FTP stands for? – File Transfer Protocol
5.       Non Volatile Memory.
6.       Shortcut key to start slideshow in PowerPoint? – F5
7.       Full form of ASCII? -  American Standard Code for Information Interchange
8.       Questions from Microsoft excel
9.       Some questions from Networking, DBMS related.

Well, I have compiled a timeline for the results of online written test of RBI Assistant Exam 2014, based on the previous trends of the same recruitment exam. This year, RBI Assistant Exam 2014 was held on 23rd, 24th, 25 th and 26 th of September across various test centers. Before we assume a result date, let’s see the timeline of RBI Assistant exam held earlier. Please note, a 100% accurate date cannot be predicted as the result of recruitment exam is an internal matter of RBI recruitment and they did not notified a result date previously in the recruitment notice.
